One in five struggle with literacy! Join us for our 4th Annual 1in5k Dyslexia Dash at Freestone Park in Gilbert for a family-friendly fun run dedicated to raising awareness, building community, and championing literacy for all!

Event Highlights

Inclusive and Fun: This 5K welcomes participants of all ages and fitness levels. Bring your strollers and furry friends for a morning of connection and solidarity.

Building Community: More than just a run, it's a chance for dyslexic learners, advocates, and families to connect, share experiences, and spread much-needed dyslexia awareness.

IDA Arizona is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to educating and promoting reading proficiency while raising awareness about dyslexia across Arizona.   • Age Group Awards for Top Three in all Age Groups for the 5K distance.  Age groups are:

    • 8 & Under, 9-10, 11-13, 14-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 - 79, and 80 & Over

  • Pre- & Post-Race "Athlete's Brunch" (granola bars, fruit, water, Gatorade, etc)

  • Chip Timed with Real Time Results and Photos provided by StartLine Racing on their Website

Race Day Information

  • Race Day Check In and Registration will be available beginning at your assigned arrival time.

    • We accept cash, check, and credit card on race day.  Race day prices are:

      • 5K - $40

      • Kids Dash (100 yard) - $20

    • All shirts sizes may not be available on race day (please register online before race day to guarantee your shirt size choice).

  • Wheelchair, stroller, and leashed pet friendly event.

    • All wheelchairs, stollers, and leashed pets must start at the back of the start line coral.

      • All participants are chipped time, so your time will not be affected by starting at the back of the coral.  Your  time will not start until you cross the start line.

  • The course will take you along the dedicated running trails in and around Freestone Park (a mixture of packed dirt and asphalt/concrete surfaces).  Please note - this is an open use trail system and does not close for our event.

  • Due to the common start/finish line there will be no bag check for this event.

Event Schedule

  • September 27th 6:30AM - Race Day Packet Pickup & Registration beginning at 6:30am at Freestone Park

  • September 27th 7:30AM - 5K Run Begins

  • September 27th 7:40AM - Kids Dash Begins

  • September 27th 8:30AM - 5K Awards Ceremony Begins (approx).
